Cosiness in our dwelling directly depends on the temperature in our rooms. Cold walls and floors sometimes nullify all our efforts to heated our apartment, but there is a way out – this is an electric warm floor. It can be mounted on the floor both in the bathroom and the kitchen, and in the rooms, the corridor, the loggia and the hallway, but before that it is necessary to decide as what heating it will serve, the main or additional. As an example, we will analyze in stages the choice and installation of a warm floor as an additional heating system.
Preparatory work
Before starting the installation of a warm floor, it is necessary to remove the old coating, clean it from garbage, level the surface, smooth out irregularities and remove the influx of the old cement mixture. Prepare a place to install a thermostat that serves to adjust the heating temperature.
Before laying a heating cable, it is necessary to lay thermal insulation and waterproofing. As the latter, you can use a polyethylene film and a condensate collection that often forms near the heating cable. For thermal insulation, penopol is mainly used, one side of which has a foil coating, the other consists of a self -adhesive polyethylene foam layer. Penophol is laid up with foil, the joints are glued with mounting tape, after which a thin net is laid on top, which serves to exclude cable overheating, its fixation and reinforcement of the cement screed laid on top of the heating cable. In order to avoid heat loss, for thermal insulation of the floor it is necessary to use only high -quality materials.
When choosing a heating cable for a warm floor device, a sufficient power will be 100-120W/m². Contact the seller of a specialized store where you will purchase a flooring cable with a request to calculate the length of the cable.
The laying of the heating cable
Having completed the above preparatory work, you can lay the heating cable. It is laid in two ways: parallel (snake) and spiral, but, according to experts, the way to lay a special role does not play. Much more important is the step of laying a cable that can be calculated: step (cm) = (heating area * 100) / cable length.
After laying the cable and fastening it to the thermal insulation with a mounting tape, it is necessary to install a thermal attemptor. It is installed in a plastic tube, drowned on one side in order to avoid a solution when pouring a concrete screed. The tube is installed at a distance of 0.5 – 1.0m. from the wall, between the lines of the cable. After that, the floor is poured with a cement-sand screed, from 30 to 50 mm, paying attention to the absence of voids in the solution and the uniformity of laying the solution.
Then the cable is connected to the mains. Remember that the control test of your warm floor should be carried out after the screed completely dries, in order to avoid its failure.
