In the history of classic volleyball, there are only five athletes who have won gold medals at the Olympic Games three times.
And they all belong to one great generation of the Cuban women’s team, which won the Games in Barcelona-1992, Atlanta-1996 and Sydney-2000. They are Ana Ibis Fernandez, Regla Bell, Marlenis Costa, Mireya Luis and Regla Torres. At the same time, the most titled volleyball player in Olympic history is Ana Ibis Fernandez, who has, in addition to three gold medals, also a bronze medal in Athens-2004.
Karch Kiraly is a unique American volleyball player, who also has three Olympic gold medals. However, only two of them were won in classic volleyball (in Los Angeles-1984 and in Seoul-1988), and another one in beach volleyball (Atlanta-1996). In addition, as the head coach of the US women’s national team, Kiraly became a winner of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
